Pitching and Defense Lead To Jamboree Sweep

Sunday saw the NCMC Pirates baseball team go on the road and get a pair of wins in the jamboree hosted by Southeastern CC in Burlington, IA.  The Pirates fall record now sits at 5-2-1 with their next action coming on the road Thursday at Metropolitan CC, with the double header starting at 2pm at the Creekside baseball complex in Parkville, MO.

In game one, the Pirates bested Southwestern CC 6-3 behind a strong offensive showing from freshmen Hunter Eickhoff and Bailey Quint.  Each player had a pair of hits and they combined to score 3 runs.  Pirates pitching allowed just 2 hits and no earned runs in the victory.

The second victory of the day came against Ellsworth CC 3-2.  The Pirates scored all 3 runs in the first inning before seeing their offensive attack go cold.  Fortunately, the team's pitching and defense were able to keep the Ellsworth attack at bay to preserve the win.  The pitching staff held the Panthers to just a single hit.
