Pirates baseball got a split in scrimmage games this past weekend. NCMC took a Saturday loss to Truman State University 16-8 in 16 innings. Sunday, the Pirates got the best of Evo Elite 17-6 in 9 innings. Next fall action for the Pirates will be a home contest Thursday against State Fair CC.
Highlighting the NCMC offense was Jesus Fonseca (3-6, 4 runs), Quentin Umbaugh (3-6, 4 RBI, 1 HR) and Kendall Rivero (2-4, 1 HR). As a team, NCMC had a batting average of .290 in the two games and pounded out 27 hits.
On the mound, sophomore Jaden Thacker got the win against Evo Elite allowing just a solo homerun in 3 innings pitched. Taking the loss against Truman State was Kyle Stratman who surrendered 4 earned runs over 2 innings pitched.
Defensively, the Pirates will look to continue to improve. The team allowed 6 unearned runs on 8 errors in the two contests.
