Baseball Begins Region 16 Action With A Home Sweep Of East Central College

NCMC baseball began their Region 16 slate of action over the weekend with a resounding series sweep of East Central College, the defending region champion.  The Pirates run-ruled the visiting Falcons in three of the four games and improved their overall record to 10-11.

Staring offensively for the Pirates was Javier Suarez.  He went 8-15 including 3 doubles, a triple and a homer.  He scored 9 runs and drove in 5 RBIs.  Also having an excellent series was Eduardo Chourio.  His 8 for 13 weekend included a pair of doubles and 7 RBI plus 5 runs scored.  As a team, NCMC bludgeoned the ECC pitching with a .412 average and 3 homers.

On the mound, NCMC allowed just 12 hits over 4 games and limited ECC to 8 runs.  In game two on Saturday, the combination of Koby Wagers and Logan Arbuckle threw a no-hitter.  On Sunday, only an infield single kept the Pirates from a second no-hitter in game two.  Earning victories on the mound were Max Wagers, Koby Wagers, Eduardo Chourio and Jorge Jimenez.

Next up will be a mid-week road contest with KCKCC on Tuesday.
