Pirates Get Outslugged By State Fair CC At Home, Look Ahead To Big Region 16 Series

In a high scoring affair at Burleigh Grimes Field, NCMC came out on the short end of a 18-14 score on Tuesday against State Fair CC.  NCMC is now 19-23 ahead of an important Region 16 series this weekend at Moberly Area CC.  The Pirates and the Greyhounds are both currently tied for first in NJCAA DII Region 16 with identical 8-4 league records.  The Pirates will need to win 3 of 4 to secure the top seed as Moberly leads the head-to-head after taking 3 of 4 earlier this season.

NCMC battled in the high-scoring affair but ultimately fell to State Fair, highlighted by a strong offensive showing from the Pirates lineup. Javier Suarez led the charge with three runs scored and a pair of hits, while Eduardo Chourio delivered a standout 3-for-4 performance with two RBI and a double. JP Gonzalez and Leonel Dominguez each left the yard, combining for five RBI, with Dominguez driving in three on the day. Jose Bedoya added a three-hit effort with a home run and two stolen bases, and Koby Wagers contributed three RBI, including a double. The Pirates plated runs in five different innings, including a six-run seventh to stay within striking distance, but could not overcome State Fair's big fifth inning as NCMC finished with 14 hits in the loss.
