The North Central Missouri College Women's Flag Football program made history with its inaugural home game at CF Russell Stadium on February 24th, welcoming a strong crowd and an enthusiastic showing from the local Trenton community.
The Pirates faced Kansas Wesleyan University in the program's first-ever home contest, with the Coyotes earning a 41-13 victory. Despite the final score, the night marked a significant milestone for NCMC Athletics as the Women's Flag Football team officially took the field in front of its home fans for the first time in regular season action.
The atmosphere was electric from the outset, as supporters packed the stands to witness the launch of the program. The Pirates competed with determination throughout the contest, showcasing the growth and potential of a team laying the foundation for future success.
Prior to kickoff, fans gathered for a pregame tailgate party hosted by BTC Bank. The event drew a great turnout and set the tone for an exciting evening of football and community celebration. NCMC extends its sincere appreciation to BTC Bank for its support and commitment to Pirate Athletics.
Also honored in pregame ceremonies was Sarai Clark who tragically passed on December 28th. Teammates, coaches and athletic staff honored her and her family with a moment of silence plus numerous heartfelt gifts. The team is playing this season in her honor.
The inaugural game not only marked the beginning of a new era for NCMC Women's Flag Football but also highlighted the strong backing from the Trenton community. The Pirates will look to build on the experience as they continue their season and further establish the program's presence on campus, regionally and nationally.
