NCMC Men's Basketball dropped a spirited game Monday night at the Ketcham Community Center 77-65 to St. Louis Community College. With the loss, the Pirates finished regular season Region 16 play with a 1-3 record. Overall, NCMC's record sits at 13-10 ahead of a road matchup Wednesday at NJCAA Division I power Indian Hills. Currently, Indian Hills holds a record of 22-4 and are ranked 8th in the nation.
"St. Louis just came out and played harder than us. We have to manage our turnovers and hit some outside shots to stretch the defense and get them out of their gaps and we just didn't do either of those things that night. We still did some positive things and made progress in some areas but are going to have to be more consistent in improving and correcting our short comings in order to get some wins here down the stretch," commented Coach Esry.
Failure to hit outside shots certainly doomed the Pirates. As a team, they went 0-14 from behind the arc which proved costly. Playing nicely off the bench was freshman Marty Jackson. He led the team in scoring with 18 points. Also in double figures was Jordan Reece with 13 and Rayonte Childs with 11.
