NCMC Avenges Season Opening Loss, Takes Down Highland In Overtime Road Thriller

11th ranked North Central Missouri College relied on power, poise, and timely contributions across the roster to secure an 86–78 overtime victory at Highland Community College on Wednesday night. The win avenged a season opening loss to the Scotties and improves NCMC's record to 12-2 with a home tilt against Kansas City Kansas CC the only remaining first semester game.

The Pirates controlled the glass, executed in key moments, and showcased standout performances from multiple starters. Forward Deng Gak delivered one of his strongest outings of the season, posting 16 points and a game-best 15 rebounds across 42 minutes. Gak was a constant presence in the paint, finishing through contact and anchoring NCMC's interior defense.

James Porter III added a double-double of his own, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting while collecting 11 rebounds, including three on the offensive end. Porter's activity on the glass helped NCMC maintain second-chance opportunities throughout the night.

The Pirates' backcourt supplied steady scoring and composure. Camden Bennett led all scorers with 23 points, attacking the rim consistently and going 8-for-10 at the free-throw line. Camden Brown contributed 15 points and four rebounds while adding two steals, giving the Pirates important perimeter production.

Grant Redd rounded out the starting group with six points, three rebounds, and a key steal, while reserve guards Jon Jon Neff and Za'Corrie Kerr added five points each off the bench. Sophomore swing man Talan Holt provided an efficient spark as well, hitting two field goals—including a three-pointer—in limited minutes.

As a team, NCMC dominated the rebounding battle 52–36 and converted 24-of-29 from the free-throw line, proving decisive in overtime.
