The NCMC Men's Golf team traveled to Marshall, MO on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Missouri Valley Fall Invitational held at Indian Foothills Golf Course. The Men competed in 36 holes on Monday and concluded play with 18 holes on Monday.
The Pirates got off to a fast start in round one and tied the program record with a team score of 294. Dylan Groomer and Guillermo led the Pirate scoring in round one firing rounds of 72 and 73 respectively. Round two saw the Pirates break the program record with a team mark of (-2) 286. The Maryville trio led the NCMC scoring with Dylan Groomer firing a (-3) round of 69. Lucas Viertaler posted his first under par collegiate round with a 71 and Kaleb Groomer shot a nice round of 72. Round three brought tougher weather conditions but the Pirates posted a team score of 306 led by a 74 from Dylan Groomer and a final round 75 from Kaleb Groomer. The NCMC Men finished in 10th place out of 17 schools at the event.
The NCMC (B) team was also in action at the event posting twin team scores of 302 in the first and second round. In the final round the Pirate (B) team shot a team score of 314. Landon Biermann and Grant Leamer led the scoring in round one with rounds of 74 and 75. Biermann kept playing well for the Pirates, firing a second-round score of 72 including five birdies. Jorge Gomez was right behind him coming around the Indian Foothills layout with a 74. Gomez matched that mark in the final round after nine-hole splits of 38-36.
The NCMC Men's Golf team will be in action next when they travel to Lamoni, IA next Thursday to compete in the Graceland Fall Invitational. Shotgun start for the event will begin at 12:00 P.M.
