The North Central Missouri College men's golf team traveled to Lamoni, Iowa, on Thursday to compete in the Graceland Fall Invitational at Lamoni Golf & Country Club. The Pirates turned in a strong performance, finishing second out of 10 schools with a team score of 299—just four strokes behind Southwestern Community College, which claimed the team title with a 295.
Guillermo Gomez paced the Pirates with an even-par 72 to finish tied for second overall and earn All-Tournament honors. Landon Biermann and Dylan Groomer both finished tied for ninth after carding rounds of 75. Kaleb Groomer added a 77, while Jorge Gomez rounded out the scoring with an 81.
The NCMC "B" team also impressed, placing fourth with a team total of 308. Alvaro Alegria matched Guillermo Gomez with a round of 72 to also earn All-Tournament recognition. Grant Leamer posted a 76, followed by Lucas Viertaler with a 79. Both Lucas Schussler and Andrew Phipps contributed rounds of 80. Additional Pirate scores included an 81 from Zander Coffman, an 86 from Riley Gott, and a 96 from Elijah Grote.
The Pirates return to action next Monday and Tuesday when they compete in the Kansas City Cup hosted by William Jewell College. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. from Paradise Pointe Golf Course.
