NCMC Outdoor Track & Field Competes In First National Meet

The NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at New Mexico Junior College was a memorable finish to the season as seven athletes proudly represented the program on the national stage against some of the best competition in the country.

 

The women's 4x100-meter relay squad delivered one of the highlights of the meet with an outstanding performance. Jamari Ervin, Cierra Stigger, Adeline Dickerson, and Katelyn Jones combined for a season-best and personal record time of 48.67 seconds, showcasing tremendous chemistry and growth throughout the year.

 

Ervin also competed individually in the women's 100 meters, where she closed out her season in impressive fashion by running a personal best of 12.19 seconds. Her performance capped off a strong year of development and consistency on the track.

 

On the men's side, Nathaniel Giffin competed in the pole vault and battled hard among a talented field. Giffin narrowly missed the podium, finishing 10th overall in the nation to conclude another successful season.

 

The biggest standout of the championship meet was Genesis Bethea in the men's high jump. Bethea cleared a new personal best height of 2.07 meters, earning a third-place national finish and securing All-American honors. His breakthrough performance on the national stage highlighted the hard work and determination he displayed all season long.

 

With personal records, national finalists, and an All-American performance, the program leaves Hobbs with plenty of momentum and excitement for the future.
