NCMC softball's season came to a close on Saturday when they lost the first two games of the Region 16 sub-region matchup with Jefferson College at Griffin Field. NCMC finished the year with a record of 22-32 overall.
Game 1: North Central Missouri College came up short in a 2-0 loss to Jefferson College despite a strong effort on the mound from Cassi Rodgers, who allowed just two earned runs over 5.1 innings and struck out two. Rodgers also contributed at the plate with one of the Lady Pirates' three hits, joined by Brookelynn Becker and Chariss Barnard, who reached twice with a hit and a walk. While the offense was limited by Jefferson's pitching duo, NCMC's defense faltered slightly with two errors and couldn't capitalize on the few opportunities it had, leaving six runners on base.
Game 2: Despite jumping on top with an early 2-0 lead, NCMC could not hold off the visiting Vikings in the elimination game of the Region 16 sub-region matchup. Jefferson College tied the score at 2-2 in the third before NCMC grabbed the lead again in the fourth. However, NCMC couldn't hold off the comeback by the Vikings and ended up concluding their season with a 6-3 defeat.
