Pirate's Softball Splits Road Series With SAU-Tech

Pirate's Softball went 2-2 over the weekend in a series at Southern Arkansas University Tech, moving their early season record to 2-4.  Their next action will be at home on Friday against Hawkeye CC.  That doubleheader is set for

 

GAME 1

NCMC powered its way to an 11-6 extra innings victory over SAU-Tech, racking up 16 hits — including four home runs — in a balanced offensive effort.

 

Ireland Bloss led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs while scoring twice. Alex Endicott delivered a huge performance as well, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. Emma Lisenbee added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

 

Kaylor Hodge and Cora Thompson each left the yard, with Thompson adding two RBIs. The Pirates consistently applied pressure throughout the lineup, as eight different players recorded at least one hit. Ella Barnett and Katie Pierson each contributed sacrifice bunts, while Myla Laws added a stolen base.

 

In the circle, Emma Lisenbee earned the win, tossing 3.2 innings in relief and allowing just two hits while striking out two. Skylar Sunderland started the game and went 4.1 innings, striking out four without issuing a walk.

 

As a staff, the Pirates did not allow a walk and struck out six, securing the win behind timely hitting and steady pitching.

 

GAME 2

Pirate's Softball battled offensively but came up short in a 9-6 loss to SAU-Tech to close out Saturday's games.  NCMC pounded out 11 hits, highlighted by a big day from Kaylor Hodge. Hodge finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, providing the spark in the middle of the lineup. Alex Endicott also delivered a key swing, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI while adding a walk.

 

Ireland Bloss contributed offensively with a double and two RBI, and Skylar Sunderland added a hit at first base. Myla Laws, Emma Lisenbee, Cora Thompson, Reghan Loges, and Katie Pierson each recorded a hit as NCMC consistently put pressure on the defense. Thompson also swiped a base to add to the Pirates' aggressive approach on the bases.

 

In the circle, Laws worked 3.2 innings, allowing three runs while striking out one. Lisenbee tossed 2.1 innings in relief and added a strikeout.

 

NCMC used timely power to stay within striking distance, plating four runs over the final two innings, but couldn't overcome the early deficit despite the late push.

 

GAME 3

North Central Missouri College softball dropped an 8-2 decision despite several bright spots in the lineup.  The Pirates totaled six hits, highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 performance from Alex Endicott, who added a double and scored one of NCMC's two runs. Kaylor Hodge delivered extra-base power with a triple, while Myla Laws and Chariss Barnard each contributed a hit.

 

NCMC manufactured its offense with aggressive play. Skylar Sunderland drove in a run, and Reghan Loges executed a sacrifice to move runners into scoring position. Cora Thompson added pressure on the bases with a stolen base.

 

In the circle, Ireland Bloss started and allowed just one run over two innings of work. Sunderland tossed four innings in relief and recorded a strikeout.

 

The Pirates worked three walks and stranded 13 runners, consistently putting traffic on the bases but unable to capitalize against SAU-Tech starter Chelsey Chavez.

 

GAME 4

NCMC erupted for 14 runs on 14 hits to split the series against the Rockets.  The Pirates were aggressive at the plate from the outset, tallying 13 RBIs and drawing four walks while striking out just once as a team. Chariss Barnard led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs to anchor the middle of the lineup. Kaylor Hodge added three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs in a standout performance at shortstop.

 

At the top of the order, Myla Laws set the tone with two hits, two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Ireland Bloss reached base three times, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, while Trinity Alderman contributed a hit, two runs scored, an RBI, and two walks. Emma Lisenbee helped her own cause with a hit and RBI at the plate.

 

In the circle, Lisenbee went the distance, working all five innings. She allowed five hits and four earned runs while striking out two and limiting free passes to just one.

 

The Pirates' balanced offensive attack and timely extra-base hits proved to be the difference as North Central secured the run-rule win.
