Softball took a pair of road losses on Monday in Kansas that dropped the team's record to 6-8 overall. In game one, Neosho County bested the Pirates by a score of 11-10. In the back end of the doubleheader, Allen County handed NCMC a 13-1 defeat.
Game 1:
NCMC's offense produced 10 runs on 11 hits, but the Pirates came up just short in an 11–10 loss to Neosho County on Thursday. Several Pirates delivered strong performances at the plate, highlighted by a big day from Ella Barnett. The freshman third baseman went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs to pace the NCMC offense. Cora Thompson also had a productive game, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while swiping two bases. Myla Laws added a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Alex Endicott reached base twice, scored a run, and stole two bases. Ireland Bloss scored twice and added a stolen base of her own, and Avery Clark contributed a hit and a run in limited opportunities. Reghan Loges chipped in with a double and scored a run, while Chariss Barnard added a hit and crossed the plate once. The Pirates were aggressive on the bases, totaling eight stolen bases in the game. In the circle, Bloss, Emma Lisenbee, and Clark combined for six strikeouts. Despite the strong offensive showing, Neosho County used a late push to edge NCMC in the high-scoring contest.
Game 2:
North Central recorded five hits in the contest, led by Myla Laws, who paced the offense with a perfect 2-for-2 performance in the circle and at the plate. Ireland Bloss, Reghan Loges, and Skylar Sunderland each added a hit, while Katie Pierson scored the Lady Pirates' lone run. North Central also showed patience at the plate as Ella Barnett drew a walk.
In the circle, Laws got the start, while Sunderland handled the bulk of the innings in relief. Avery Clark closed the game and delivered a strong outing, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings while striking out two.
Allen County capitalized on early opportunities, using timely hits and aggressive baserunning to build a lead. Despite the setback, the Pirates continued to battle throughout the game and produced solid individual performances both offensively and in relief pitching.
