Pirates Wrap Up Fall Golf Season At Virginia McCoy Invitational

The North Central Missouri College Men's and Women's Golf teams traveled to Parkville, Missouri, on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational hosted by Park University. The first round was held at the National Golf Club of Kansas City, while the final round took place at The Bluffs Golf Course.

 

The NCMC Men's team finished their fall season strong, placing tied for seventh out of 11 schools. The Pirates opened with a 317 on Monday before improving with an impressive 300 on Tuesday. Kaleb Groomer led the way in round one with a 75, carding nine-hole splits of 37 and 38, while Guillermo Gomez added a solid 78.

 

Tuesday's final round showcased the consistency the Pirates have displayed all season. Jorge Gomez fired a (+1) 71 to lead the team, followed by Dylan Groomer and Alvaro Alegria, who each turned in matching rounds of 76. Kaleb Groomer added a 77 to round out the scoring. Dylan Groomer finished inside the top 15 individually with a 36-hole total of 151.

 

The Groomer twins capped off a strong fall campaign, both finishing with identical tournament scoring averages of 74.9. The Pirates currently hold their highest program ranking ever at No. 36 in NJCAA Division II and will look to continue climbing the leaderboard this spring as they prepare through offseason work in the weight room and on the course.

 

On the women's side, NCMC posted a team score of 443 in round one before improving by 25 strokes on Tuesday with a 418. Kennady George led the Pirates on Monday with a 95, while Courtney Crose paced the team on Tuesday with a 98. The NCMC Women were the only junior college program in the field, competing against a strong lineup of four-year schools.

 

George placed 38th overall with a two-day total of 200, followed by Crose at 207, Presley Rardon at 212, and Casey Phillip at 242.

 

The Pirate Women will now shift their focus to offseason training, splitting time between the weight room, indoor practice facility, and local courses. NCMC closes the fall season ranked No. 24 in NJCAA Division I and holds the No. 1 spot in the regional rankings.
