Baseball Falls Twice To Metropolitan CC At Home

Baseball took a pair of losses to Metropolitan CC on Saturday in front of the home crowd.  The team now holds an overall record of 19-22 with a home game against State Fair next on the schedule.  First pitch on Tuesday for that contest will be 1:00pm.

Game 1:

NCMC struck early but couldn't sustain the momentum in a 12-3 loss to Metropolitan Community College in the opener. The Pirates plated all three of their runs in the first inning, sparked by JP Gonzalez's two-hit performance at the top of the lineup, while Javier Suarez and Eduardo Chourio each crossed the plate. Leonel Dominguez delivered the lone RBI for NCMC, and Ethan Shupe, Jose Bedoya, and Ismael Medina each added a hit to round out the six-hit effort. On the mound, Jorge Jimenez took the loss after working the first three innings, with Jonah Sparks and Jaxon Turner providing relief. Despite the early offensive push, the Pirates were unable to answer Metropolitan's middle-inning surge.

Game 2:

The Pirates managed just two hits in game two as they fell 14-1 to Metro CC. NCMC saw JP Gonzalez account for the lone run, going 1-for-2 and crossing the plate, while Eduardo Chourio added the team's only extra-base hit with a double and finished 1-for-2. Despite the limited offense, Ethan Shupe reached base via a walk, and the Pirates showed discipline at the plate against a tough outing from MCC's pitching staff that combined for 10 strikeouts. On the mound, Hagen McMahon provided a bright spot in relief, working two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run and striking out one.
